Carnival Hosting FAQ
Here’s the How to Host a CotC page .
Also, the general CotC FAQ may have a lot of the information you may want.
What do I have to do if I host a Carnival of the Cats?
Volunteer. Put the Carnival submissions together and put the Carnival up by 6PM Central Time on the Sunday you’re scheduled.
Will you send me a bunch of email submissions if I host?
Nope. We give you the webmail address and password to get into the carnivalofthecats.com email box you can pick them up yourself without getting them emailed to you.
How do I volunteer to host the Carnival?
Write us at carnival (at) catblogosphere.com with the location of your weblog and the e-mail address you want to use for submissions, and we will add you to the calendar for a week of your choosing.
I don’t know what to do for a fun Carnival! Help?
Links to previous Carnivals are available on the Carnival archives page. You can peek at different carnivals to see different ways they’ve been done in the past.
How do I make Carnival graphics for my Carnival?
Some places you can go online are
Picnik.com – Free graphics editor online
Imagechef.com – Signmaker & blingerizer online
http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ - Free graphics editor online
Can I put my Carnival up earlier in the day on Sunday?
You can if you want. Some do. Others don’t. Just make sure it’s up by 6PM Central Time.
Please do collect entries up until the 6PM Central Time publishing time and post them in the Carnival.
What if submissions come in after I’ve put up the Carnival?
You may choose to add later entries through Sunday evening if you wish but you don’t have to. Any submissions that are not added must be left unread in the webmail, so that the next Carnival host will know to add them to their Carnival.
What if I think a submission is unacceptable?
Use your own judgment. We encourage using all submissions as long as they’re not wildly inappropriate such as one of torturing cats or porn or no cats in the entry. If you decide something is unacceptable, though, don’t email the blogger in question, just leave it out. We’ll back you on your choice.
What if something happens and I can’t host the Carnival after all?
We expect volunteers to host when they say they will, but occasionally computers crash or personal emergencies do happen. Let us know as soon as humanly possible. Email carnival (at) catblogosphere.com.
